Dorothy Hamill to Visit Ice Den
Olympic gold medalist and figure skating superstar
Dorothy Hamill will make a public appearance at the
Ice Den
on Friday, Feb 12, from 6:30 - 8:00pm.
Other past skating Olympians will be in attendance, including Doug Ladret, Canadian Figure
Skater from the 1988 and 1992 Games; Mike DeAngelis, Italian Hockey Team from the
1992, 1994 and 1998 Games; and Ryan O’Meara, U.S. Figure Skater from the 2006 Games.
A figure skating exhibition, featuring the Coyotes Spirit Synchronized
Skating Team in an Opening Flag Ceremony followed by competitors from the
2010 U.S. Figure Skating

Pacific Coast Sectional
and
National Championships, will be held
from 6:00 - 6:30 pm.

who has been selected as the Dec 2009
Arizona State University Maroon Ceremony Convocation Speaker! Danny is receiving his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, Summa Cum
Laude. He will speak on behalf of his graduating class on Dec 18 at the Wells Fargo
Arena. In addition to Danny’s academic accomplishments, he has brought much pride
to our club. His skating record includes the 2005 State Farm Scholastic Honors Team,
2007-2009 member of Team USA, and serving on the U.S. Figure Skating Pairs Committee
since 2008.

Jr. Board Gives Back & Needs Your Help!
The CSCA Jr. Board’s community service project will benefit
Homeward Bound! Much needed supplies will be collected
during Learn to Skate and Club Ice sessions during the first part of Dec. Items
shall be delivered to Homeward Bound by Jr. Board members during a “Service Day”
on Dec 12. All skaters, along with friends and family, are encouraged to attend
Club Ice on Dec 4 from 6:10 – 7:10pm. Admission is a contribution to the donation

on Saturday, Nov 28 from 12:30 - 3:45pm at the
Ice Den. Camp includes on-ice & off-ice sessions designed to develop
stroking technique, power, & endurance while increasing edge quality & footwork.

Speranzo Competes at Collegiate Championships
Meghan Speranzo represented the Coyotes Skating Club of AZ at the recent
2009 U.S. Collegiate Championships in Ardmore, PA. She is the first Coyotes
skater in many years to compete in this national event for full-time university
students. Skating in the Senior Ladies event, Meghan placed third in her qualifying
round and eleventh overall. She will soon begin her studies at Quinnipac University
in Hamden, Connecticut. Congratulations and good luck to Meghan!

Happy Days for Coyotes
Ice Ensemble
Nineteen team members, 2 coaches, and over 50 family and
friends attended the
National/International Theatre on Ice Competitions on June 25 -27 in Chicago.
Thirty-one teams, approximately 830 skaters, from across the country participated.
There were 15 teams in the Novice division. The Ensemble placed 6th in their Free
Skate
event for both the National and International competitions. They placed 8th in the
Choreographic Exercise event at the International
competition. Great Job Team!

Congrats to our National Adult Competitor
Adult
National Medallist, Patti McNeill
demonstrated age is only a number when she won the 4th
place pewter medal competing against the best adult competitors at
Adult Nationals. Skating in the
Championship Gold Ladies event, Patti competed against other Sectional qualifiers over age 21. She received many Good Luck wishes from club members at her send-off,
which was also attended by her coach, Grant Rorvick, and her
husband. Congratulations Patti!

Sectional Competitors
Congratulations to four of our adult
skaters who recently competed at Pacific Coast Adult
Sectional Championships February 20 -
22, 2009 at the Sobe Ice Arena at
Fiesta Rancho in Las Vegas, NV. The
Ice Den team consisted of Heather
Ross, Patti McNeill, Marlene
Bernstein and Heather Mrowiec. Ice
Den staff instructor Grant Rorvick
accompanied the ladies and coached
them to these wonderful
accomplishments.

Patterson Ice Center, Grand Rapids,

Congrats to our National Competitors
Our National team is now back from Cleveland and the top place earners were Molly Aaron & Dani Cohen,
who placed 5th in Junior Pairs. While just missing out on a medal, they were named first alternate
to the Junior World Team, which is quite an honor! Also representing our club were Douglas Razzano
in Championship Men, Chelsi Guillen & Danny Curzon in Championship Pairs, Grant Marron & Megan Gueli
in Junior Pairs, Gabe Woodruff & Emily Glassberg in Junior Pairs, and Morgan Agster & Adam Civiello
in Novice Pairs. Former club member Katlynn McNab had a fine showing, placing 7th in Novice Ladies.
Ice Den training mates Tiffany Vise & Derek Trent also competed well in Championship Pairs. We take

Fundraiser
at Golden Spoon
The Junior Board is hosting a fundraiser
at Golden Spoon in North Scottsdale the entire month of April. No flyer is necessary to participate.
Just go to Golden Spoon at 9397 E. Shea Blvd anytime
in April, mention you are with the
Coyotes Skating Club to the cashier when you make your purchase, and Golden Spoon will donate
30% of proceeds back to the club.
You are invited to attend a send-off celebration honoring
the skaters that will be representing the
Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona,
along with skaters that train and coach at the Ice Den,
at the 2009 AT&T - U.S. Figure Skating Championships being held
January 18 - 25, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio. The club is proud to have
skaters competing in both singles and pairs events again
at this year's Championships.
The festivities will begin at 3:45pm on Wednesday, January 14,
2009 in the lobby of the
Ice Den.
