Registration Open for 2013 Cactus Classic
Cactus Classic is coming soon! Registration is now open and the 2013 Cactus Classic Announcement has been posted to the 2013 Cactus Classic web page. The deadline for applications is 11:59 PM, June 3th, 2013. Note: registration can only be completed through Entryeeze. New information will be added as we finalize the competition details, so check back often for updates!

Aristeo Brito Promoted To National Judge
Let's give a warm Congratulations to CSCA Member Aristeo "AB" Brito, who was just promoted to a USFS National Judge position in Singles and Pairs! We look forward to seeing AB on National panels for years to come. Good Job, AB!

Razzano & Vise To Skate at Governing Council Athlete Gala
Congratulations to CSCA skaters Douglas Razzano and Tiffany Vise (with partner Don Baldwin) for being chosen to perform at the 2013 Governing Council Gala! Attendees will be treated to performances by top USFS skaters and members of the AAC on Saturday, May 4th. Way to go Douglas, Tiffany and Don!

CSCA Skaters Dazzle at Adult Nationals
Our CSCA skaters wowed the home crowd and earned an immpressive number of medals at the 2013 Adult Figure Skating Championships! Kudos to Billy Lacy Vickers and Veronica Wargo for their 2nd Place Finish in the Adult Centennial Dance event and to Patti McNeill for her Bronze Medal in the Adult Gold Ladies 4 Freeskate event! Tracey Rineberg garnered a Silver Medal in the Bronze Solo Dance event, a Bronze Medal in the Silver Ladies I Dramatic event and a 4th Place Finish in the Silver Ladies I Freeskate event. Marlene Bernstein earned a Bronze Medal in the Adult Silver Ladies 4 Light event as well as a 4th Place Finish and an 8th place finish in the Adult Silver Ladies Solo Dance and Dramatic events, respectively, while Kim Crause had a 4th Place Finish in the Masters Intermediate Ladies II Freeskate event and Lisa Cerilli had a 6th place finish in the Adult Bronze Ladies 3-4 Freeskate event. Ice Den training mates Jose Hinojos and Brenda Wittman also had strong finishes. Jose scored a Gold Medal in the Silver Men's Light event and a Bronze Medal in the Silver Men 2 Freeskate event, while Brenda earned a Bronze Medal in the Masters Intermediate Ladies I/II Light event and a 4th Place Finish in the Adult Masters Intermediate Ladies II Light event. Adult Nationals Exhibition March 30
Please join us at the Ice Den on Saturday, March 30th at 3:15 PM for a skating exhibition featuring CSCA Adult skaters Marlene Bernstein, Lisa Cerilli, Kim Krause, Patti McNeill, Heather Mrowiec, Tracy Rineberg, Billy Vickers and Veronica Wargo performing their programs for the 2013 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships! S.T.A.R.S. Combine Event April 11
CSCA is hosting a Standardized Testing of Athleticism to Recognize Skaters (S.T.A.R.S.) event on April 11th, in conjunction with the 2013 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships. The S.T.A.R.S. program is a series of 15 off-ice tests combined with an informational workshop titled "Training, Overtraining and Recovery". The program is designed to help developing athletes learn about the underlying athletic abilities needed to continue safe skills development on the ice. The S.T.A.R.S. program is open to USFS members 6 years of age and older who have passed the pre-preliminary moves in the field test.

CSCA Skaters Shine at Adult Sectionals
Let's give a big *Hurray*! to our CSCA Adult Skaters! The group brought home a pile of medals from the 2013 Pacific Coast Adult Sectional Championships! Marlene Bernstein and Tracy Rineberg nailed Gold Medals in the Silver Ladies IV Light Entertainment and Silver Ladies I Free Skate and Dramatic events, respectively. Lisa Joury scored a Silver Medal in the Bronze Ladies III Free Skate and Patti McNeill garnered a Bronze Medal in the Adult Gold Ladies IV Free Skate. Marlene Bernstein also earned a 5th place finish in the Silver Ladies IV/V Dramatic event while Heather Mrowiec earned an 8th place finish in the Silver Ladies III Free Skate event. Ice Den training mates Jose Hinojos and Brenda Wittman also had strong finishes. Volunteers Needed for 2013 Adult Nationals
The 2013 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships are fast approaching and we still need volunteers! For your convenience, a volunteer sign-up binder has been placed at the Ice Den front desk. Each volunteer activity will have a sign-up sheet with requested dates and times of availability. You can also volunteer online by completing the Volunteer Form, located on the 2013 U.S. Adult Championships Volunteer Page or by contacting Kim Krause. Thank you to those CSCA members who have previously contacted the Local Organizing Committee to help out. We appreciate your support of our club and the adult skating community!

Annual Dress & Equipment Sale March 4 - 8
It is that time of year to clean out your closets and bring in your used or new skating items to be sold at the Annual Dress and Equipment Sale, being held March 4th - 8th at the Ice Den. Each sale item should be placed on a wire hanger and include a tag listing the size and sale price on one side and the owner's name on the flip side (tags will be available at the Ice Den Administration office). Items can be dropped off with Lesley Richard in the Ice Den Administrative Office from 8 AM - 6 PM, February 12th ? February 26th. ITEMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE 26TH. CSCA Skaters Dazzle at Nationals!
Lets give a big Huzzah to Club members Madeline Aaron (with Max Settlage) and Micah Tang for their stellar performances at the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships! Madeline and Micah nailed 3rd Place finishes in the Junior Pairs and Intermediate Men events, respectively!

Fellow CSCA skaters also had great skates at Nationals! Camden Pulkinen clinched a 5th Place finish in the Juvenile boys event, Megan Griffin and Andrew Civiello garnered a 6th Place finish in the Juvenile Pairs Event and Caitlin Fields (with Jason Pacini) placed 7th in the Junior Pairs event. Tiffany Vise (with Don Baldwin) placed 10th in the Senior Pairs event and Douglas Razzano had a 12th Place finish in the Senior Men event. Click here to see all of the results from Nationals. Max Aaron Wins Gold at Nationals!
Congratulations to former CSCA member Max Aaron for winning a Gold Medal In the Senior Men event at the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships! Max capped off his 4th place Short Program with a technically commanding Free Skate to earn the top spot amongst the best men in the U.S.! Nationals Send-off Celebration January 16

Dimitri Makansi
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of friend and fellow CSCA skater, Dimitri Makansi. Some of us grew up with Dimitri and some of us watched as he grew from an excited 6-year-old on his first pair of skates into an accomplished Senior skater. We will all miss Dimitri's sweet friendliness, playfulness and joy of skating. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Makansi family during this difficult time.

There are 2 more opportunities to have your holiday gift-wrapping done by the Coyotes Ice Ensemble Team! Members of the CIE will be available for gift wrapping on December 15th from 10:00 - 4:00 PM as well as December 22nd from 12:00 noon - 4:00 PM. Holiday Gift Wrapping By CIE
The Holiday Season is upon us!  If you need a little break from the usual December crunch, come to the Ice Den on any Saturday in December and have your holiday presents wrapped up in style by the Coyotes Ice Ensemble Team!  Members of the CIE will be available for gift wrapping on December 1st from 12:00 noon - 4:00 PM as well as December 8th from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Additional times will be posted soon for December 15th and 22nd. The service is free, however donations to the CIE would be greatly appreciated.

Our CSCA skaters had an impressive presence at Sectionals this year! Congratulations to Madeline Aaron (with partner Max Settlage) and Camden Pulkinen for nailing 1st Place Finishes in Junior Pairs and Juvenile Boys, respectively! Cudos also to Micah Tang, Megan Griffin and Andrew Civiello for earning 2nd Place Finishes in Intermediate Men and Juvenile Pairs, respectively, and to Caitlin Fields (with partner Jason Pacini) for achieving a 4th Place Finish in Junior Pairs! Ice Den training mate Elena Pulkinen and Alyssa Hightchew earned 8th and 10th place finishes in the Novice Ladies event while Cecelia DeBates (with partner Robert Garbee) finished 5th in the Juvenile Dance event.

Our 2013 Regionals Team members turned in several outstanding performances this year! Lets give a big Huzzah to Micah Tang for his 1st Place Finish in the Intermediate Mens Event, Camden Pulkinen for his 1st Place Finish in the Juvenile Boys event and Alyssa Hightchew for her 4th Place Finish in the Novice Ladies Event! Micah, Camden and Alyssa have each earned a spot at the 2013 Pacific Coast Sectional Skating Championships! Congratulations as well to Alexis Gagnon for her 4th Place Finish in the Novice Ladies qualifying event and to Jacqueline Benson for her 2th Place Finish in the Intermediate Ladies qualifying event!

Pandora's Unforgettable Moments Ice Show November 10
Get into the holiday spirit at Pandora's Unforgettable Holiday Moments on Ice, a one-night show featuring hosts Chip Davis, Kristi Yamaguchi and Michael Weiss with nine Olympic, World and National skaters performing to live music by Mannheim Steamroller! The show will be held at
Grand Canyon University Arena on November 10th at 7:00 PM. The Coyotes Ice Ensemble is again offering discount tickets to the event! Holders of the first 300 tickets purchased through CIE will have early access to watch the show warm-ups and will have an opportunity to chat with a show skater, starting at 5:00 PM. CSCA Skaters Rock the 2012 National Solo Dance Competition
Kudos to CSCA skaters Jaclyn Cartwright, Brianna Fullerton and Karina Manta for their efforts at the National Solo Dance competition, held September 20 - 23 in conjunction with the 2012 Pikes Peak Classic in Colorado Springs, CO! Karina earned Two Gold Medals in both the qualifying and championship Novice Events as well as 6th and 8th place finishes in the Pre-Silver qualifying rounds; Brianna placed 7th and 9th in the Novice and Silver Dance qualifying events while Jaclyn had a 3nd Place Finish in the Intermediate qualifying round and finished 6th in the finals. The National Solo Dance competition is offered to the six top solo ice dancers at each level in each section. CSCA Skaters Rock the 2012 Seattle Ice Fest
Lets give a big Huzzah to CSCA skaters Jaclyn Cartwright and Brianna Fullerton for their outstanding performances at the 2012 Ice Fest, held May 31 - June 3 in Seattle WA! Jaclyn nailed Four Gold Medals in the European Waltz, Fox Trot and Intermediate Solo Dances and the Int/Nov/Junior Dramatic Event, while Brianna earned Three Silver Medals in the In the Rocker-Foxtrot, Tango and Novice Solo Dances as well as an 8th and 10th place finish in the Novice SP and FS, respectively. Agster Earns 2012 Helen M. McLoraine Scholarship Award
Congratulations to CSCA member Morgan Agster for being awarded a scholarship from the the Helen M. McLoraine scholarship fund! The scholarships are given to assist current and former amateur and professional ice skaters who have dedicated their lives to skating and now wish to pursue college educations. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited institution of the student's choice. Click here to learn more about the Helen M. Kudos to Douglas Razzano and Ice Den training mates Tiffany Vise and partner Don Baldwin for being chosen to represent the USA in the 2012 Grand Prix Series! Cactus Classic Announcement Update
The revised 2012 Cactus Classic Announcement has been posted to the Cactus Classic web page. There was some confusion regarding the pricing of the optional critiques offered with the Freeskate events. The fee schedule for Freeskate events has been revised, so please refer to the current Cactus Classic Announcement for the correct fee schedule. Good Luck to all of our Cactus competitors!

Hal Marron Voted Pacific Coast VP
Let's give a big Congratulations to Hal Marron, National and International competitor,long-time CSCA member, skating parent, former CSCA president and National and International official, on his recent election to the Pacific Coast Vice-President position of the United States Figure Skating Association! Mr. Marron has been instrumental over the years in promoting CSCA and supporting the sport of figure skating. We are so fortunate to have him as a member of CSCA.

Mr. Marron accepted the position at the 2012 USFS Governing Council. Click here to read about Mr. Marron's appointment and to review the complete Combined Report of Action of this year's Governing Council. Kudos again to Mr. Marron on achieving this honor!

2012 Testing Application Form Updates
Effective immediately, please use the Arizona Interclub Test Application Form for all test requests. The updated form lists the current fee structure and Test Chairs for each of the clubs that are conducting test sessions as part of the Arizona InterClub.

All checks for tests taken at the Ice Den are to be made payable to the Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona (CSCA). All test applications for test sessions held by CSCA at the Ice Den should be mailed to Rose Jones at the address listed on the Arizona Interclub Test Application Form. Please DO NOT USE the P.O. Box address for CSCA found on the old application form, as that address is no longer valid. Test applications can also be dropped off at the Ice Den Administration Office prior to the deadline. Skaters who elect to test at a test session conducted by
non-CSCA clubs will continue to submit payments to the club hosting the event.

Reminder: CSCA Banquet & Elections May 6
The CSCA Annual Awards Banquet and Election will be held on Sunday, May 6th at the Grayhawk Golf Club. Ballots and Banquet invitations have been mailed out to all CSCA members and April 30th is deadline to RSVP for the banquet. If you replied to the RSVP after April 26th, please send an email to Marlene Bernstein before May 2nd to ensure your place for the event.

Also, Please forward your ballot to Rose Jones no later than 5:00 PM Sunday, May 6th. Ballots received after 5:00 PM, May 6th will not be counted. If you are mailing your ballot, please post it early enough to allow for delivery by May 6th. You can also drop off your ballot at the Ice Den Administration Desk by May 5th or bring it with you to the Banquet prior to 5:00 PM.

The new CSCA club jackets are here! The jackets will be custom made by Jammin Apparel and can be ordered online through the CSCA jacket web order form. The jacket style is the "Contour" and will include the CSCA logo embroidered on the front of the jacket and "Coyotes Skating Club of AZ" embroidered on the back.

Vickers Earns Gold at Adult Nationals
Let's give a big Huzzah to Billy Vickers for his 1st Place Finish in the Bronze Men Group 4 Freeskate event at the 2012 Adult Figure Skating Championships! Great Job, Billy! Fellow CSCA Adult skaters had great skates as well. Marlene Bernstein nailed a Silver Medal in the Masters Ladies Light Entertainment 4/5 Interpretive event amd Lala Van Camp (with partner Miguel Carrosco) earned a 7th place finish in the Silver Dance event. Ice Den training mates Jose Hinojos and Brenda Wittman also had strong finishes. Jose scored a Gold Medal in the Silver Men's Dramatic Skate 2 event and a Silver Medal in the Silver Men's Light 2 Interpretive event, while Brenda earned a Bronze Medal in the Masters Intermediate Ladies II Freeskate event and a 4th place finish in the Masters Ladies Light Entertainment 2 Interpretive event. Adult Nationals Send-off Party April 4
Please join us to cheer on CSCA skaters Marlene Bernstein, Billy Vickers, Lala Van Camp (with partner Miguel Carrasco) and Ice Den training mates Jose Hinojos and Brenda Wittman at a combined celebration for our Adult Pacific Coast Sectional competitors and our Adult National competitors as they prepare to compete at the 2012 Adult Figure Skating Championships! Registration Open for 2012 Cactus Classic
Cactus Classic is just around the corner! The 2012 Cactus Classic Announcement has been posted to the 2012 Cactus Classic web page. The deadline for applications is 11:59 PM, June 8th, 2012. Note: registration can only be completed through entryeeze; the Cactus Classic LOC will not be processing written applications this year. New information will be added as we finalize the competition details, so check back often for updates!

Ice Den Spring Exhibition April 9
The Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona, together with the Ice Den Skating Programs, is extending an invitation to our skaters to take part in a Spring Exhibition event at the Ice Den, being held Monday, April 9th 2012 from 5:00PM - 6:30PM.

Skaters of all levels are welcome, including Ice Den Basic Skills, Ice Ensemble, Synchronized Skating Teams, Adults, Pair & Dance Teams. The exhibitions are for performance experience only and will not be critiqued or judged.

Volunteers Needed for 2013 SWP Regionals
The Skating Club of Phoenix has been awarded the 2013 Southwest Pacific Regional Figure Skating Championships, being held October 12th - 16th, 2012 at Polar Ice Peoria. The SWP Regionals LOC is recruiting volunteers to help out with all aspects of the competition. Please contact Andrea Palos or Kerry Lowenstein if you are interested in volunteering for Regionals. Annual Dress & Equipment Sale March 6 - 10
It is that time of year to clean out your closets and bring in your used or new skating items to be sold at the Annual Dress and Equipment Sale, being held March 6th - 10th at the Ice Den. Each sale item should be placed on a wire hanger and include a tag listing the size, sale price and your last name (tags will be available at the Ice Den Administration office). Please click here to access the form to list items for the sale. After you complete the form, please return it by email to Michaela Cannon. Note: the Ice Den will not be able to store sale items this year, so please give your items to Michaela Cannon, Robin Moyer or Jewel Genarro in person or make arrangements to do so. Coyotes Hockey & Ice Ensemble Fundraiser
Get your tickets for the hottest game in town! The Coyotes Ice Ensemble is selling discounted tickets for the upcoming match between the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Jose Sharks. The event will take place on Saturday, March 10th at 6:00 PM at the Jobing.com Arena.

As an added bonus, the 2011 - 2012 Coyotes Ice Ensemble team will be showcasing their new programs during the first intermission of the match.

Ticket prices are $45.00 for lower level seats and $15.00 for upper level seats. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Coyotes Ice Ensemble Team. Huge Kudos to Club members Caitlin Fields (with Jason Pacini) and Douglas Razzano for their stellar performances at the 2012 U.S. Figure Skating Championships! Caitlin and Jason nailed a 2nd Place finish in the Novice Pairs event and Douglas parlayed two solid performances into a 5th Place finish in the Senior Mens event!
